Hand Made Jewellery: Techniques


preparing to heat and shape a ringStuart uses simple, portable equipment that is easy to learn and use. A foot bellows system is used for soldering and a wide range of cutting, filing and polishing tools – hand and electric – help create unique, handcrafted pieces.

The jewellery is often embellished with intricate designs using braided wire or granulation, not generally used by Western artisans.

Hand Made Jewellery: Materials



Stuart uses precious, semi-precious and agatized stones sourced from all the continents. Shiney Finery designs also use polar bear teeth, walrus tusk, bone, turquoise, pearls, shark teeth, fossil and petrified wood. Stuart works in many forms of silver and in all karats of gold.
